Browse the Database
The buildingscience.com database can be used as a research tool. Each of the documents is linked to related papers, internet sites, letters and commentary, and glossary items. The database itself can be viewed according to thematic hierarchies.
For example, you can choose to look through the information as organised by building functional components – walls, roofs, windows, etc. or you can look at the information from a building physics point of view – heat, air, moisture-related documents.
How to Browse using the Hierarchies
The hierarchy menu to the left of this text is designed to give you significant control over how the information in our database is presented
.
The drop-down menu lets you chose a hierarchical structure that best suits your interest in the subject material. For example, the "Building Physics" hierarchy organises the documents in the database according to an understanding of the physical principles involved.
The "Systems Approach" describes the ways that individual building components are related according to function. This hierarchy might be appropriate if you are searching for information on a particular element of a building, such as windows or mechanical systems.
At all times, the hierarchy menu will show you the available information that is related to the topic that you are currently examining. Please explore our database!
