Backer Rod

A resilient foam material (typically closed cell polyethylene) of circular cross-section installed under compression in a joint to provide a backing, to control sealant joint depth, act as a bond breaker to prevent three-sided sealant adhesion, and provide an hour-glass contour of the finished sealant bead.
