About BuildingScience.com
building science.com provides objective, high-quality information about buildings. This resource combines building physics, systems design concepts, and an awareness of sustainability to promote the design and construction of buildings that are more durable, healthier, more sustainable and more economical than most buildings built today.
This website has been created to provide building science information to builders, architects, engineers, code officials and homeowners. The database of documents has been made available for free by the authors.
About the Testing Phase
At this time the website and database is in a technical testing phase. During the testing a small number of documents have been posted online to assess the website's functionality. However, the posted documents are representative of both the quality and breadth intended for all future information that will be made available here.
The authors ask that any questions about this site--or any feedback relevant to the development of the website--be directed to Alex Lukachko, the website administrator, using the correspondence form on our contact page (click here).
About the Authors
There are two primary authors for the documents on buildingscience.com. At the current time a full list on contributors is not available but this will change as the testing of the website (see above) is completed. Information about each is below:
| Joseph Lstiburek, Ph.D., P.Eng. | Dr. Lstiburek is a principal of Building Science Corporation (BSC) in Westford, MA. He has twenty-five years of experience in design, construction, investigation and building science research. Joe is an ASHRAE fellow and an internationally-recognized authority on indoor air quality, moisture, and condensation in buildings. BSC is one of the DOE Building America teams that provide technical assistance to trade contractors. More information about Joe Lstiburek can be found at www.buildingsciencecorp.com |

| John Straube, Ph.D., P.Eng. | Dr. Straube is a principal of Balanced Solutions Inc. and a professor of building science in the Civil Engineering Department and the School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo in Canada. John has acted as an educator, researcher, consultant and expert witness on energy-efficiency, durability and IAQ. Current interests include the optimal system design of buildings, sustainable buildings, and moisture problem avoidance. More information about John Straube can be found at www.johnstraube.com |
